Lisa Turano

Lisa Turano – Vice-President, Legal of Turano Baking Company and the President of the Turano Foundation.

Turano Baking is a premier national baking company providing artisanal bread, hamburger buns and breadsticks to many of the country’s most recognized chain food service establishments.  She is the eldest member of the 3rd generation of Turano family now involved in the family business which is celebrating more than 50 years of success.  She earned her juris doctorate degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her MBA from the University of Chicago.  Her undergraduate degree is in Italian as a language and literature from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  Her studies gave her the opportunity to live in Florence, Italy for 9 months.  She is also a licensed real estate broker in the State of Illinois.

In her role as VP-Legal, Lisa is the primary contact for all legal matters related to the business and family including Labor/Human Relations, Contracts, Real Estate, Corporate Transactions, Litigation, Estate Planning, etc.  Additionally, Lisa spends time committed to lobbying on Capitol Hill with the American Bakers Association for matters relevant to the baking industry.  She serves as a member of the ABA Human Resource Committee and is a co-chairperson of the ABA Legal Committee.

In addition to her professional obligations, Lisa is an active philanthropist and serves the causes she cares about with enthusiasm and zeal.  She is formerly a member of two Private School Boards, a former Committee member of a teacher endowment trust and a former Board member of Kids in Danger, a national non-profit that focuses on the advocacy of safe children’s products.  Beyond her formal involvement with these organizations, Lisa is also a self-described perennial fundraiser and works closely with development and advancement for these organizations.  She has served as Event Chairperson for several organizations and various themed fundraisers.

In an effort to maintain balance, sanity and health, Lisa is also a nationally competitive ballroom dancer and an AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) certified Group Fitness instructor.  She teaches several dance fitness classes per week hoping to create a fun, encouraging and energetic exercise opportunity for others.
